Moving right along, I swear

Feels good to be able to move on from all that election crap, doesn't it? Especially considering the outcome? Well allow me a few more sentences and then I promise we can put it behind us and go back to more important things like my favorite pairs of shoes and lengthy diatribes about the insanity of folks who insist on loading their toilet paper so it feeds from the bottom of the roll. In fact, since I've brought it up can we maybe put an amendment outlawing such a practice up for vote in California? I know they'll do the right thing. They're good at banning stuff that doesn't have anything to do with anything.

Oh right, I had something I wanted to say about the election so we can put it to bed around here: I just want to thank all of you crazy blue-staters who came through for those of us stuck down here in the red. I haven't even lived in a blue state since I was ten years old, and seeing my votes getting swallowed up by my unfortunately misled fellow electorate is getting kind of old. Between Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wyoming, the only place I've lived that I didn't feel like a space alien (for many reasons) was Wyoming, and that's only because I lived in the only county in the state that didn't vote for Cheney-Bush, despite being the locale where Cheney himself cast his ballot.

So anywho, thanks a bunch to everyone who came through for Obama, particularly the people of Colorado, Virginia and North Carolina, states that may finally be coming to their senses. I'm especially jazzed about our guy's narrow victory in North Carolina, a state that is solidly southern. Also, it shares a border with Tennessee and Georgia.

That's it. No more glowy post-election talk. For now. But damn, that ended up being long enough to constitute it's own post, didn't it? I could give you some glorious tales of my fantastic footwear over the years, and I know you've been clamoring for exactly that, but it's NaBloPoMo, so we better wring another day out of that one.

I cannot stand people who load the toilet paper wrong. Over the top is the way to go, folks!

I find it strange that my home state went blue, much to my Republican father's chagrin, while my current state is red as can be -- which, naturally, annoys my Democrat sensibilities. I guess my father and I are just mavericks like that.

What about NH? We did it up right for you.

Does this mean you are going to spend less time wearing pants and more time wearing shoes?

And what does it say about you when your neighbors won't even vote for you?

Don't forget to thank the people of Ohio. They came through for us this time.

Did you ever own a pair of Reebok Pumps? I want to hear about those. My brother once overinflated his so much that they exploded.

I like to thank all those Americans who did the right thing. You know who you are!

That's about the clearest statement about the Prop 8 vote in Cali that I've read this here election season. Well said.

I know that New York was no big thing, but I want to give props to the people of Dutchess County, who voted for the Democratic party for the first time in maybe ever. Hell, they didn't even vote for FDR, and now he's from the place!

Sometimes it's fun to be a space alien, especially if you can influence others to your alien ways.

Yeah, strange. I looked at county-by-county map of Georgia. Obama carried all the major metro areas in the state, and yet lost it. I guess there is still a significant rural population.

Well, and the 'burbs. McCain took some of the major Atlanta suburbs, too, which is significant.

I'm happy that both Wisconsin and Minnesota (the only two states I've lived in) are solidly blue. Wisconsin had me worried for a while there.

And I know we all need to get on with our lives and stop talking about the election, but I still just can't stop smiling about it.

I sometimes load the tp so it feeds from the bottom. Frequently, in fact. Let's not let this come between us.

Hey Chris, did you notice that their was a blue arc that started in the Augusta/Savannah area in the east and ended down in the southwest of the state? It was really weird. With the exception of August and Savannah none of that arc is even close to urban.

There was also a straight line across Alabama that started about where the Georgia line left off.

And Mickey, I thought your banning stuff that has nothing to do with anything comment was referring to the other proposition that banned battery cages for chickens in California. It also set minimum space requirements for pregnant sows and other livestock, but the biggest deal was the chickens.

So apparently in California, chickens are considered to be slightly above gay people.

Did you see that Tennessee was one of the few areas of the country that not only voted red, but voted MORE RED than it did four years ago? Welcome to progress, friends.

Depressing.

I am so happy with the results. I feel like it's rendered so much more of the country as inhabitable.

Thanks for voting in a red state though. It's important. I feel like my vote gets gulped up too, b/c no one ever even considers NY going red.
