What a dumbass.

Seriously.

I wish I had a million dollars.

Oh, the curse of a conscience

Yeah. But if he had kept it, karma probably would have bitch-slapped him something fierce.

What is with people expecting *TWO* once-in-a-lifetime chances? Does he expect this might happen again? Dumbass indeed!

Allie said...

Yeah, I have to say, I'd probably do the same thing though. I think, like Courtney said, I'd be waiting for karma to show some wrath if I spent it.

I just have too many questions. Was it in check form? Cause if so, he had to. I mean, he wouldn't have been able to cash it. Was it in cash? Cause if so, how did he know who it belonged to? And finally, the real dumbass is the person who lost it. Why did they drop $140K?

em- Me too.

modern gal- Sucks, doesn't it?

courtney- You're hindu now?

hightower- I didn't say I wouldn't do the same thing.

vanessa- No shit.

allie- I'd turn it in, too. It might be short a few thou...

meaghan- And what if God wanted him to have it?

Maybe he'll take the $2,000 reward money and buy a lottery ticket and lose it all there.

Seriously. They gave him a $2,000 reward. Take note, Courtney: Crime doesn't pay but honesty doesn't pay well. Just something to consider in your job search.

Wait. Did this actually happen? I should really watch the news once in a while.

$140k? On the sidewalk?

Dude, didn't you JUST SEE No Country For Old Men? No good can come from taking money that doesn't belong to you. Seriously.

julie- Can't complain about $2,000. But still...

stefanie- Yeah, it happened. I would've made a link, but my work computer doesn't let me. That's the exact headline though. I didn't even read the article.

kirsten- I don't even lose candy wrappers, let alone mounds of cash.

sid- Yup.

npw- Excellent point. And Anton Chigurh is still out there. For that reason, and in summation, I do believe I would have returned it. There are too many questions that come with that kind of money plus the fact that somebody is bound to be looking for it.

That's so weird; I just lost $140,000.

I completely agree, of course.

I found a $20 once and nobody was around. I bent down, assuming it was on a fishing line and someone would yank it away. But they didn't!

And that's the story of the happiest day of my life.

Mickey said...

aaron- Have you checked your neighbor's house for it?

surviving myself- I knew you would.

ck- I want no part in that.

kate- Maybe someday that'll happen to me. Ahh, daydream...

How did he know who to return it to? I can't imagine the type of people who carry around $140k would generally like to be easily found.

And would karma still kick your ass if you, for instance, donated that 140k to your favorite charity? Wouldn't the two sorta cancel each other out?

And if I keep it, how do I claim it on my taxes? Gambling winnings? Self-employment?

God, too many questions... Almost not worth it.

Almost.

I want to know how precisely one loses $140K. I mean, seriously.

justins- Good point with the charity donation. I say go for it.

beej- Yeah, if I drop a penny, I find that fucker.

michelle- It took a minute, but I figured out what LMAO means. Why the riddle?
