The Haze, Irish bombast, some felons and flatulence averted: The Weekend

Nice. I wrote a five-word post and still got nine comments. I have arrived. And for those of you who decided it wasn't worth commenting on, good for you. I wouldn't have either.

It was a good game, though. And now I'm done talking about it.

Some quick hits, because I can't be bothered with transitions:

-The lady and I went and saw U2-3D at the Imax theater Saturday. Directly across the hall from our theater was the cattle-call of people waiting to be let in to see Hannah Montana, most around four feet tall, most wearing some shade of pink, all of them chaperoned by some unfortunate adult. Say what you will about U2, but I've never been prouder to call myself a fan, and that includes when Courtney took me to see them in Atlanta in the fall of 2001 and they did all that therapeutic, heal the world with music, post 9/11 stuff, which they're still pouring on. That was also the first (and last) time I've been to a concert where other concert goers wore collared shirts and tucked them in. How can you properly rock with your shirt tucked in? Exactly.

-Why don't girls like beans? And I'm speaking strictly of the consumption part, not the after-effects. I made some wicked-awesome chili yesterday (because Super Bowl = man food, right?) and Courtney acted like I was trying to feed her dog food. And as for the after-effects, so far so good, which may be because I slow-cooked it for 10 hours (it's all about breaking down the fiber.)

-Speaking of the lady, she humored me (as she's wont to do every few months or so) and we went on a five-mile hike in Frozen Head State Park while the chili was cooking. You have to drive through the Morgan County Correctional Facility, which borders the park, to get there and we saw a couple of deer, some interesting waterfalls, and an inmate or two. The latter were fenced in. At least they have a view of some mountains.

-We also started watching the show Weeds on DVD. We finished up with Big Love last week, so I was happy to move on to another pay-TV original series and Weeds has not disappointed. It makes me want to go out and score some pot, though. Good thing the show's not called Mushrooms or I could be in real trouble, because those store-bought buttons in the fridge aren't doing anything for me, and we've been getting a lot of rain lately.

I love Weeds!

I'm still on season 2 of Big Love. The first few episode were kind of slow, but still good.

I like beans. But my husband worships them, so I think I just resigned myself to like them. Rice and beans combined make up a complete protein, you know. . .

Never been a huge bean person.

Wow, Hannah Montana vs. U2. Both in 3-D. There's a real Sophie's Choice if I ever heard one.

No, obvs I would take U2, but I wouldn't like it. I don't know how much 3-D IMAX-sized Bono I could handle.

Weeds is an awesome show. I hate having to wait another year for the next season to come out on DVD. I watch an entire season in about two days and then feel the withdrawl for the reason of the year. And I think I have a girl crush on Mary Louise Parker.

I really like U2 and really don't like Hannah Montana or the color pink so much. But I absolutely love beans. I mean like every kind of bean! Chris and I are trying to go to a diet that is higher in fiber, which means we try to eat beans quite a bit. I don't think I have too many after-effects, if you know what I mean, but it is better for that part of your body as well. (sorry, was that gross?)

I love beans, but I dislike U2. Sorry.

Okay, people, you can stop with the U2 bashing anytime. I love Bono and hate beans, okay? Sue me.

I don't know if you can make a judgment about all girls and beans based just on the one girl you are with. I like beans a lot, even with the after-effects. Sometimes, I eat beans on toast for breakfast. But then I feel really bad about myself and vaguely British.

Did you find yourself annoyed with some of Big Love? I thought otherwise smart characters kept making dumb decisions and it annoyed me. When will Nicki ever get a clue? Of course, by the time season 3 comes out in 2012, I'll have forgotten all about that.

allie- Yes, I do.

jacob- Girl.

aaron- I completely understand people's aversion to Bono, but you have to give him credit for trying to do something positive with his celebrity.

dutchess- Yup, she's pretty attractive. And patience is a virtue when watching TV on DVD.

meaghan- Nope, not gross.

barb michelin- What a great motherfucking idea! Thank you so much. Now go to hell.

em- One for two ain't bad.

courtney- Let the haters be haters.

noelle- Why do beans make you feel bad about yourself? And yes, the characters on Big Love continually make bad desicions. I always find myself chalking it up to their blind devotion to their faith, but maybe that's an over-simplification.

hightower- I haven't met many bean dips I don't like.
